On September 4, 2026, the new factory designed by Greg Lynn will be inaugurated. It is intended to house technologically advanced production lines and will include a completely renovated museum, a showroom, and large spaces to host events and rallies.

While awaiting concrete information about the September event, let's review the key parts of the new factory project.

The "Road to 2121" project

The historic Moto Guzzi plant in Mandello del Lario is at the center of a major conservative renovation project called "Road to 2121: the next 100 years of Moto Guzzi." Announced on the occasion of the brand's centenary in 2021, the project represents a long-term strategic vision aimed at projecting the manufacturer into its second century. The goal is to transform the site from a traditional industrial complex into a multifunctional "hub" open to the public, founded on the pillars of culture, design, and mechanics. Supported by a significant investment from the Piaggio Group, the plan reaffirms the brand's unbreakable bond with its territory of origin.

The project is designed by world-renowned architect Greg Lynn, who also serves as the CEO of Piaggio Fast Forward and is a Guzzi rider himself. His design philosophy creates a dialogue between the site's history and a contemporary aesthetic, drawing direct inspiration from the "metallic industrial vocabulary of Guzzi." Architectural elements, such as the sunshade fins of the new visitor center, explicitly recall the cooling fins of V-twin engines, creating a visual and emotional link with the motorcycles.

Beyond the overall vision, it is the details and anecdotes that warm the heart of a true enthusiast.

  • The red gate stays: This is the most anticipated and important confirmation. In a video presentation of the project, Greg Lynn himself dispels any doubt: "The red gate is the same, but when I arrive at the factory, wow, this is pure avant-garde." The most powerful symbol, the threshold that for a century has separated the outside world from the heart of Guzzi, remains as a tangible bridge between past, present, and future.
  • The V7 Sport suspended in the sky: During the construction work, to promote the new V7 Sport Euro 5+, Moto Guzzi organized a spectacular advertising launch. A motorcycle in the traditional Legnano green color was hoisted and hung from the arm of the tallest crane on the site, remaining suspended above the factory under construction, visible from all over Mandello. A bold and symbolic gesture that literally elevated the new product above its future home, showing the brand's pride and ambition.
  • A project with a long history: Although the public announcement was made in 2021 for the centenary, Greg Lynn's study reveals that the initial phases of the project, with the drafting of the master plan and programming, began as early as 2015. This shows that the transformation of Mandello is not a sudden decision, but the result of a long-term strategic vision.
  • A Global Inauguration Party: The choice of September 2026 for the inauguration is not accidental. It was deliberately made to coincide with the traditional "GMG – Guzzi World Days." This means that the new plant will not be inaugurated with a simple ribbon-cutting, but will be christened by a festive invasion of thousands of Guzzi enthusiasts from all over the world. The opening will become a global celebration, a giant family reunion to welcome the new home of the Eagle.
